Synopsis: Rudolph Valentino stars as Juan Gallardo, the poor young man who goes against his mother’s wishes and becomes a toreador. His fame leads him into the arms of two women – his childhood sweetheart Carmen, and the Marquis of Guevera’s beautiful daughter. Life is never easy for a celebrated bullfighter, especially when played by Valentino, one of the premier pop icons of his day. This film, which also stars Rosa Rosanova and Nita Naldi, was one of the top grossers of 1922. It also inspired the name of a popular Prohibition­era cocktail!
